The first chart shows varieties of rice carried in these supermarkets. It shows that Metro has the biggest selection of rice, while Foody Mart offers many larger bags of rice (over 6.8 kg). Metro offers many more small bagged types of rice (2 kg or less). Furthermore, Metro offers more instant rice or CFIs and more western-brands rice such as Uncle Ben’s or Selection, and specialised ones such as Basmati. While Foody offers mostly Asian branded rice like Botan, Ox Brand, Rose Brand. T&T offers the fewest brands, but also sells their own store brand of rice.
The second chart shows the product of origin of all the rice products collected from the 3 supermarkets - it shows that most of the rice come from the USA , Thailand and China. Even though, rice is an important staple food for Chinese people, most of the rice they buy is packaged in the United States and shipped to Canada.
The third chart shows the specific brand names of rice sold in these 3 supermarkets.
